Chris400Christopher Ludwig is a highly accomplished composer, producer, flutist and poet.  He is also the creator and owner of Ludwig Recordings.  Mr. Ludwig holds Bachelor degrees in Music and in Education, as well as a Master degree in Composition from the University of British Columbia.  Some of Ludwig’s teachers include renowned Canadian composers Stephen Chatman, Larry Nickel and Robert Pritchard.  He is currently an Associate Composer of the Canadian Music Centre and is a moderator for Simon Fraser University's Philosophers' Café series. 

Since 1998, Christopher Ludwig has completed an impressive omnibus of over 200 works, all of which are for acoustic instruments and ensembles.  His 2007 recording of keyboard works has been described by Carol Greenly of Con Brio Recordings as an, “…uninhibited, unique CD of contemporary piano solos.”

Ludwig has produced and composed music for numerous recording projects including Expressivity (2007): a recording of his keyboard works by Canadian pianists Jane Hayes, Anna Levy and Danielle Marcinek and The Road to Paradise (1998).

Mr. Ludwig is a frequently recorded composer, especially in the area of art song, and frequently sets his own poetry.  His latest release, Medicine Man (2015), is the 5th collaborative Art Song recording with Baritone Cliff Ridley.  One of Mr. Ludwig's monumental works is a large triple album song cycle based on the poetry of William Carlos Williams.  These three albums:  Figure 5, Winter Trees and Pictures from Brueghel were released by Ludwig Recordings in 2013.  In 2008, he was commissioned by Baritone Cliff Ridley to compose a continuous setting of Vancouver Island poet Ken Cather’s book entitled Outward Voyage.  A recording comprised of those art songs entitled Outward Voyage  was released in 2009 by Con Brio Recordings.  In 2011, he was also guest composer for the Vancouver International Song Institute’s Art Song Lab.

His most recent publications include four volumes of flute duets entitled Discourse for two flutes (2003), and two works for flute and piano by the Avondale Press (2007).  Ludwig is also a dedicated poet whose poetry has been published in various periodicals.
